Infrared reflectography (IRR) is a highly valued and widely adopted non-invasive imaging technique used to analyse fine art and objects of cultural heritage significance. Not only can the technique be used to understand the processes of the artist by being able to see through the visible paint layers through to the underdrawing, IRR has proved itself to be an invaluable technique for the authentication of art, where technical art history and connoisseurship intersect.
