This week, Musea Brugge launched a new exhibition on Pieter Pourbus and the Forgotten Masters. Born in Gouda and famous in 16th century Bruges, Pourbus is now little known. This exhibition based at the Groeningemuseum is set to change that. The 16th century was a difficult time in Bruges, but Pourbus was a key part in developing new style, along with other forgotten masters such as Marcus Gerards, Pieter I Claeissens and his sons.
The Osiris camera has been used throughout much of the research that led to the exhibition. Visitors are able to view a film that provides more information about infrared reflectography and the results that it’s produced.
