The Met Museum Share Conservation of Altarpiece

See how The Met utilised infrared reflectography with their Osiris camera to help inform the restoration process on this altarpiece by Giovanni di Paolo.

Paintings conservator Michael Gallagher painstakingly bought this tired-looking work of art back to life by removing old varnish and overpaints and replacing missing elements caused by damage over the years.

The work is now on view to the public in The Met’s gallery 624.
